Hurumanu - Fingerprints

Definition:
Forensic science is the application of science to criminal and civil laws, mainly on the criminal side during criminal investigation, as governed by the legal standards of admissible evidence and criminal procedure.

Finger prints

Aim: To look at the different types of fingerprints.

Materials: 
  1. Ink
  2. Balloon
  3.  Fingers


Steps

  1.   Get a balloon and ink
  2.   Dip your thumb in the ink then Press it on the balloon  
  3. Then dip your index in the ink then press it on the balloon on the other side tho  
  4. Blow up your balloon and tie it up

Dusting fingerprints:

Lifting fingerprints

Aim: To learn how to lift hidden fingerprints from an object.

1. Lifting and Gathering fingerprints.

Equipment:
  1.   White Powder ( Baby Powder)
  2.   Makeup brush
  3.   plastic
  4.   Finger 
Method: 
  1.  Stick your thumb/ finger on a piece of plastic
  2.   then add baby powder just a little
  3. then use a brush to dust it a little
  4.   then stick some tape on it then peel the tape off the plastic
  5.  then put it on black paper

Conclusion Questions:

What could you do to improve your results next time? Not add much powder so then it works so you dont need to do it more than once

Why do you think fingerprints are useful to crime scene investigators?  So you know who it is right away so you can catch them faster before they do it again.
